2011 Special Events At The Track


Sun, July 17th: Annual Open House - Get a free sneak peek into the summer meet before the season begins! Enjoy many activites between 11am and 4pm, such as live music, pony rides, games, equine demonstrations, non-wagering races, backstretch tours and more.

Fri, July 22nd : Opening Day - The races begin at the Saratoga Race Course . The gates open at 11:00 am and first race post time is 1:00 pm.

Sun, July 24th: Hat Contest - The Hats off to Saratoga Festival is the highlight of opening weekend. Enjoy special events, live music and more. Fri, July 29th: College Day - All college students recieve free grandstand admission with a valid college ID.

Fri, July 29th: Party at the Spa - Formerly known as Sunset Racing days, there are 2 Party At The Park days during the 2011 Saratoga meet where racing starts  at 2.30pm .

Wed, August 3rd: Mid - Summer St. Patrick's Day - A celebration of Irish culture and heritage wtih traditional Irish food and drink!

Fri, August 5th: Rivalry Day - It’s a celebration of one of the oldest, most famous rivalries in sports: Yankees vs. Red Sox. Don a jersey or cap of your favorite team and join us for a day of “fandom at the Spa” as the Bronx Bombers travel to Fenway for a key summer series.

Sun, August 7th: Galloping Grapes Wine Tasting - Experience more than a dozen wineries from across New York State. Guests are invited to take in a day of first-class wine and racing.

Wed, August 10th: Foxwoods Mardi Gras at the Spa - The French Quarter will descend upon the Spa City as Mardi Gras comes to Saratoga Race Course. Celebrate the purple, green and gold spirit of Bourbon Street with live jazz and zydeco music, traditional New Orleans fare and carnival atmosphere.

Fri, August 19th: Fabulous Fillies Day - Pink is the color of the day!Enjoy special events and activities designed to spotlight a women’s role in the thoroughbred industry to raising funds to support The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). 

August 20- 28th: 16th Annual Travers Stakes Festival

Wed, August 24th: Ice Cream Eating Contest - Contestants will be divided into three age groups - kids, teens and adults - as they battle to see who can down a pint of ice cream the fastest. The competition will unfold outside the jockey silks area at Saratoga Race Course.

Thu, August 25th: Travers Celebration - Also nicknamed the Midsummer Derby, the Travers Stakes is the oldest major thoroughbred race in the nation, and the most highly anticipated event of the Saratoga meet. First post is 11:35 am.

Thu, Sept. 1st: Salute to Veterans

Fri, Sept. 2nd: Party At The Spa - Formerly known as Sunset Racing days,  Gates open at 12 noon, and first post time is 2:30 pm. There will be live music on stage in the backyard of the track.

 September 3rd - September 5th: Final Stretch Weekend - On Friday visit the track for Party At The Park. A downtown music festival will take place on Satuday and Sunday. The Annual Family Fun fest will take place on Sunday and Monday. There will be a Labor Day BBQ on Sunday and Monday.

September 4th and 5th: Family Fun Fest - Carnival games, face painting, caricatures, spin art, inflatables, pony rides, rockwalls, and more entertainment will take over the backyard of the track! Activities will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Mon, September 5th: Closing Day - The meet concludes with a traditonal Labor Day barbeque on Sunday and Monday. To order, call 888-285-5961.
